Responsive Leadership

Listening, Leading, and Delivering for South Pasadena.

An effective City council is responsive to our needs and gets things done. To do that our council must

  • Commit to fiscal responsibility by providing accurate and transparent financial information on an ongoing basis.

  • Ensure timely decision-making by prioritizing key issues and passing a balanced budget on schedule.

  • Actively seek input from residents through strengthening commissions.

  • Agendize issues that reflect residents' priorities, ensuring that concerns are addressed thoughtfully and promptly.

  • Focus on balancing short-term needs with long-term community goals for safety, sustainability, and quality of life.

  • Define desired outcomes and hold the City Council accountable for delivering progress on key initiatives while fostering a collaborative environment for decision-making.

Resilient Infrastructure

Carrying Our Historic Torch, While Strategically Shaping Tomorrow’s South Pasadena.

Resilient infrastructure projects should meet current needs while anticipating the future growth and technological advancements needed in South Pasadena.

  • Establish clear guidelines for what every city street should include, such as safe sidewalks, bike lanes, and spaces for multimodal transportation.

  • Plan and implement streetscapes that prioritize safety, accessibility, and mobility for all users—pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

  • Implement a Street Damage Restoration fee program so that damage to city streets can be recovered.

  • Ensure all street renovations include conduits for fiber optic telecommunications, reducing future costs and preparing for improved high-speed internet access citywide.

  • Improve water system monitoring and control so that leaks can be detected and repaired before major pipe breaks.

  • Co-locate Police electric vehicle charging stations at key locations like schools, leveraging existing public spaces to support clean energy initiatives while improving public safety.

Nurturing Community

Supporting Families, Strengthening Our Community.

Nurturing Community means fostering a safe, supportive, and connected environment where families thrive, history is preserved, and everyone has a voice in shaping the future of South Pasadena.

  • Create a Housing Committee for ongoing community input on the city’s housing plan and compliance with future Housing Element requirements allowing our planning to be more proactive and less reactive.

  • Locally define tenant protections to ensure housing stability for families and long-term residents, preserving our community.

  • Establish a citywide rental database for both short and long-term rentals to maintain transparency and allow for more responsive governance.

  • Deepen ties between the city and local schools, collaborating on programs that enhance education, health, and safety.

  • Install air quality monitors at every school to ensure a healthy learning environment for all students and allow for more effective local air quality reporting.

  • Develop more robust family programs using existing city facilities, such as launching educational golf programs at the city’s golf course.

  • Promote activities that engage residents of all ages, fostering a stronger, more connected community.
